Ability 585 was conceived in a manufacturing environment in the early 1990’s where the importance of concise and timely information was recognized as an important element in shop level and management decision making. Beginning with a TRS-80 strapped to the wall and Quick Basic, Ability585, in its initial form was born. Information handling and processing has become an important cost and benefit in today’s lean environment and 585 provides the flexibility and visibility to allow all levels of the manufacturing and production system to keep informed to what ever level of granularity is chosen.
